CounterAct on Speed TV

Two Guys Garage on SPEED Channel

 About "Two Guys Garage"

Following the success of the long running "Shade Tree Mechanics" and "Crank and Chrome" shows Sam Memmolo brought this well known garage show to the Speed Channel in 2002.  "Two Guys Garage" covers virtually every aspect of customizing and car care.

CounterAct premiered on SpeedChannel's "Two Guys Garage" on Thursday 12-19-02 at 7:30 PM with the first season's "Two Guys Garage" episode TGG 1-18 "Handling the Weather." CounterAct installations have become a staple of the show and CounterAct systems have been featured prominently on many subsequent episodes including the 2007-2008 season. Catch  "Two Guys Garage" every week on SpeedTV.

CounterAct has been featured on SpeedTV's "Two Guys Garage"show since 2002!

Here's what Two Guys Garage's Sam and Dave had to say about CounterAct on that first episode:

2002-2003 Season

Show: #TGG 1-18: "Handling the Weather"

"Two Guys Garage" Asked?

Q:  "Why is CounterAct electronic corrosion protection better than chemical rustproofing?"

"Two Guys Garage Answered:"

A:   "CounterAct electronic corrosion protection is more effective than chemical applications because electronically, the entire auto is protected, not just areas that were sprayed. Also, the protection is not dependent on the quality of the chemical rustproof application. A CounterAct electronic corrosion protection system installation does not require   drilling holes in the body, and will not void the manufacturer's new car warranty. "

The Counter Act Electrostatic Corrosion Control System

"Here's a really trick way to reduce the chance of rust and corrosion on any steel-bodied vehicle. The Counter Act Electrostatic Corrosion Control system uses high voltage/low current to prevent corrosion. This type of system is well proven and has been successfully used in agricultural, mining and other extreme environment applications for years. The system features a power supply control, two capacitive coupler pads and a simple wiring harness. This type of electronic corrosion protection is much more cost-effective than traditional chemical spray-on rust prevention systems, since the system can be removed and installed in future vehicles. Also, because the electronic corrosion prevention system is not influenced by the quality of a chemical application, it works reliably in all cases.

The power supply unit, which is the heart of the system, mounts underhood in any convenient location not subject to excessive heat from the engine. The wiring harness red wire is connected to the battery's positive terminal, the black wire goes to battery ground, and the green wire is connected to body ground. The remaining wires connect to the capacitive coupler pads, which attach to selected painted body panels with a peel-and-stick adhesive.

How does it work? Corrosion is nothing more than a chemical reaction. By exciting the body with high voltage (but very low amperage), corrosion's electro-chemical progress can be retarded. The voltage level is not dangerous at all, because there is almost no amperage. In short, the system simply prevents corrosion from spreading.

Adhesive backed capacitive coupler pads

The capacitive coupler pads feature an adhesive back. Simply peel the backing off and apply the pad to a clean painted metal surface. Since there is no metal-to-metal contact, no scratching will occur on the applied surface. The system's power supply control unit constantly monitors battery power. If the battery drops to approximately 80% of capacity, the system shuts off, so the battery won't drain. This system works so well that certain boat trailer manufacturers install this system as original equipment to prevent corrosion during the life of the trailer.

Front-mounted capacitive coupler pad

At the front of our GMC truck, Dave will mount a capacitive pad to the inside of the left front fender. This will provide corrosion protection for the front and cab area of the truck.

Rear-mounted capacitive coupler pad

At the rear of our truck, Sam installs a capacitive coupler pad inside the right rear tail light cavity. Since the two conductors are placed diagonally across the truck, this provides protection for the entire body."

2003-2004 Season

  Show #TGG-205 "Street Rod Wiring"

Sam works on his wife's 39 Chevy Sedan installing a wiring kit and a CounterAct anti-corrosion system.

Sam wanted to do the electrical system over from scratch in his wife's 39', so he started with an Accel wire set and plugs, and a Mallory distributor. After making sure he had a wiring plan mapped out, He pulled out the old harness and got a new one from Painless Performance. The Painless harness is pre-terminated to the fuse block which will save a ton of time and trouble, and all the wire is marked every five inches to cut down on confusion. He also got a gauge harness from Painless to make wiring the gauge cluster in his dash a breeze.

While Sam was up near the motor running his wire, he couldn't resist swapping out some old bolts on the engine with some ARP bolts, and he got to work on installing the Counter Act corrosion control system. The Counter Act system sends a negative electrostatic charge through your chassis and body to ward off corrosion. Now Sam can move on to the paint and chrome on this beauty, because he knows his CounterAct anti-corrosion system is good to go from front to back.
